In labor and need a doula?! I got you!

Why on-call doula care?

You’ve planned your birth, you feel supported, and you have an awesome team around you.

But then - something unplanned comes up.

• Your home/birth center birth has turned into a hospital induction, and — you didn’t plan for that!

• You’ve been in prodromal labor FOR DAYS and need help getting over the hump.

• Labor is going well, and then you stall out and need help progressing.

• You thought you’d want your partner/mom/sister/in-law/friend to be your labor support person but YIKES. Turns out that’s not going as well as you hoped!!! (don’t worry. It happens!)

Whatever the reason, you find yourself either almost in labor, or in the throws, and — you just need HELP!

With on-call doula support (or what I like to call Acute Doula Care) you can have someone who knows the anatomy and physiology of birth come and assess the situation and give hand-on support.

How does on-call doula care work?

There’s no pre-planning preparation needed. Once you’ve decided you could use some help, you can call either your midwife or myself directly, and based on availability - I grab my things and head your way.

Coverage is offered for $150/hour for a minimum of three hours. Based on desire and availability, the client has the option of keeping Doulajandra in the birth space longer, as needed.

What To Expect:

As a licensed massage therapist, Doulajandra has a lot of knowledge and tools at her disposal. She will bring her a TENS unit, Rebozo, and other massage/birth tools to help manage whatever the situation may be.

After assessing the situation, she will not only give hands on support, but she will take time to educate the mother and birth support team to let them know what else they can do - once she leaves - to help move things along.

Doulajandra works hard to help those in need, but acute doula care is not a replacement for continuous labor support. If you want guaranteed support for the duration of your labor, you’re encouraged to hire a doula (Doulajandra is a great choice!)

Doulajandra cannot guarantee availability, but by taking a limited number of “conventional” doula clients each month, she is left with some flexibility to assist last-minute clientele.
